Henri Matisse ( 31 December 1869 - November 3 1954)
I like Henri Matisse's work they are abstract and colourful and my fave work out of all of these are 'Icarus' the bottom one with the black silhouette, it tells the story of Icarus who escaped by making wings out of wax and feathers but failed as he flew to close to the sun because the wax has melted and he fell into the sea. The little yellow spark around him shows that the wax has melted and that the sun had burned him and i think that the blue around him is the sea underneath.
His other works are colourful ond lively the divine blue one a simple art work made to show the beauty of a woman's body. He died a very happy man in 1954 finally finished his final work ever the stained glass window in the memory of the the client's mother in the Union Church.
Simplicity is best in my opinion, if Henri added more of things to his art it will spoil then.
